AES Provides New Weld Fume Extraction System for Scottish College

When and expanding Scottish Technical College recognised that their existing welding and fabrication training facilities were not up to the standards that the College strives for,  they enlisted AES Ltd to design a new weld fume and grinding dust extraction system. The new system was designed to suit the new open plan refurbished facility which now has an increased capacity to train up to 60 students at a time in all forms of welding. With a keen eye on cost reduction AES Ltd removed all of the existing Nederman weld fume extraction arms and refurbished the best of them for re-use alongside a series of new Nederman extraction arms. Working in co-ordination with builders and fit out companies AES Ltd renewed all roof mounted fans and all ducting. Variable speed drives with pressure control were fitted to ensure that energy consumption and noise was minimised to ensure a comfortable and energy weld training facility for staff and students. Grinding dust was effectively managed by the introduction of wall mounted Dust Control High Vacuum extractor units connected to on-tool extraction shrouds at each grinding station. The whole installation was completed in a very short timescale at the end of the summer holiday period and was opened in time to accept new students at the start of the term. Excellent feedback was received from main contractor and the College staff.
